ColorFX Wins 100 Fastest-Growing Urban Businesses in America

Color Fx Inc, is proud to announce that it has earned a place among the 100 fastest growing inner city firms in the United States. This year’s Inner City 100 was chosen from over a five thousand nominees and we are very excited to be among the leaders in this distinguished group.

We arrived in Boston on May 8 and immediately checked into our hotel in. On that same day we were assigned shuttles that took us to the Exclusive Inner City 100 Winners Reception. There we were to meet and mingle with the 2012 Inner City 100 Winners. After the event was over we returned to our hotel and some participants also took the chance to explore Faneuil Hall Marketplace.

On May 9, our day began at 6.30am where we boarded our shuttle and headed to Williams Room, Spangles Hall, located at the Harvard Business School, where had our registration and were offered a beautiful Breakfast.

We were then given our group assignment for the morning case studies and also our seating assignment for the awards program which was being help in the evening. We then were taken to the Baker Library steps, at the Harvard Business School for our group photo. At noon, we attended the INNOVATION LUNCHEON, where Mr. Michael E. Porter, who is a professor at the Harvard Business School and also the Founder and Chairman of ICIC, was the Keynote Speaker. Other speakers were Mrs. Kay Leonard (C.E.O. of ICIC), Jerry Sargent (Citizens Bank President), Mr. Joseph G. Doody (president of Staples North America and Chairman of Staples China), Mr. S. Shariq Yosufzai (vice president of Chevron Corporation), Steve Pagliuca (managing partner and an owner of the Boston Celtics basketball franchise).

Our Entire day was filled with back to back seminars and workshops where we got to meet so many different valuable individuals.
Amongst them was Teresa Amabile (Professor of Business Administration, Harvard Business School). Beth Goldstein (Director, $50k New venture Competition Institute For Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Boston University), Francesca Gino (Accociate Professor of Business Administration, Harvard Business School), Noam Wasserman (Accociate Professor of Business Administration, Harvard Business School), Patti Greene (Paul T. Babson Chair in Entrepreneurship, Babson College), Troy Kelley (Vice President and Managing director, R/GA), Tameka Moss (Director of Talent, Next Street).

That evening, the moment we had all been waiting for finally arrived, the Inner City 100 Awards Presentation, which took place at the Grand Ballroom, at Sheraton Hotel in Boston. For the First time the rankings of all the winners were revealed and the winners were recognized for their accomplishments.

This has been a life changing event for us and we feel so honored and humbled to have been a part of it. All the years of hard work finally paid off, and we are all so excited for the future.

Fortune InnerCity100 Award

Inner City 2012 Winner List

INNER CITY 100, 2012

On Wednesday May 9th, 2012, over 500 urban business owners and leaders from both the public and private sectors converged in Boston for a full day of executive education and the unveiling of 2012’s Inner City 100 list. Published in Fortune, the Inner City 100 is a list of the fastest-growing urban businesses in America. With everything from craft beer distributors to green consultants, this year’s list and the event that unveiled it have shown the inner city to be remarkably vibrant. As ICIC Founder and Chairman Michael E. Porter said at last night’s event, “Nothing makes me as hopeful about America’s future, out of all the things I do, as this event and these companies.”

This year’s Inner City 100 boasts a stunning 577% average growth rate over the last 5 years. These firms created nearly 5000 new jobs and grossed $1.5 billion in revenues, all while employing 40% of their workforces from within the inner city. Showcasing their stories proves the rationale behind ICIC’s mission – inner cities have unique competitive advantages that can allow companies to be wildly successful if they take advantage of them. Number 22 Gelato Giuliana for instance took advantage of New Haven’s status as a transportation hub to grow the company over 50% per year since 2006. 2012 Diversity Award winner Intelect Corporation (#96) retrofitted a former broom factory to service their IT needs to great success. Examples abound of companies using transportation hubs, reusing old industrial buildings, and taking advantage of their city’s central locations to outdo their competition.
