ICIC And “Inner City 100” Back in the News
As our regular customers know, ColorFX printing was a proud recipient of the ICIC’s — Initiative for a Competitive Inner City — award for the 100 Fastest Growing Urban Businesses in America. Now, ICIC is back in the news announcing a strategic alliance with Next Street, the first merchant bank for urban enterprise, to accelerate the implementation of economic development strategies in low-income areas of U.S. cities. ICIC founder, Harvard Business School Professor Michael Porter called the partnership “a deep and ongoing collaboration” when it was announced at the Inner City Economic Summit, held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. “Next Street shares ICIC’s vision, and will allow scaling of solutions around the country.” Access to growth — and capital — remain a challenge for many inner city businesses. ColorFX is proud to be an ICIC recipient, as many ICIC successful ICIC recipients have higher productivity rates and lower debt that the average US corporation. Two Trends In American Printer Point to Strong Role for Traditional Advertising and Print
American Printer is one of our favorite trade publications here at ColorFX — an industry brand recently revived after a 130-year history! On their website are two recent articles which, taken together, point to the strong role that traditional print still has in advertising and forming public opinions. In the first of these, a report from Barnes & Noble College Marketing is cited, which said that among college students, social media and the Internet are still less persuasive than “traditional” styles of advertising — word of mouth, and even TV advertising. The second was a study from the Association of Magazine Media, which found that people in this same generation — 18 – to – 34 — still consider magazines credible sources of information, and upwards of 95% of those say they still read printed titles. Print-in-hand still provides certain comforts that other media cannot. We’re in the midst of back-to-school season now, and are ready to help you take care of all your customers’ print needs. Coming Highlights From Graph Expo 2012
Heidelberg is one of the printing industry’s main suppliers of equipment, including to printers like us. And one of the key trade shows for the printing equipment industry is the annual Graph Expo coming in October of this year. In this space, throughout fall, we’ll be presenting occasional highlights from the Expo itself, and from Heidelberg, a company to watch in terms of seeing where trends are headed in printing and design. One coming highlight, announced in advance by the Heidelberg company, is the modeling of a new multi-platform print campaign that “takes the ‘digital or offset’ question off the table, and makes cross-platform color matching its centerpiece.” In other words, brand identity — and corporate colors — can stay constant on everything from large in-store signs to point of purchase displays, and even tags and packaging — regardless of the printing process used. Heidelberg will be debuting new aspects of this “print-thru” style campaign at the Expo, but you don’t have to wait. Color FX can help guide you through this multi-platform visual consistency for your own customers. Contact us today at (877) 763-7671.
